I am a newbie on antenna, after study a lot from internet, get some knowledge about it.
PCB board is 1mm, composed by 9 layers:
1. Top Solder Mask ==> 0.5mil 2. Top Copper ==> 1.35mil(1oz) 3. PP 7628 ==> 7mil 4. Inner Copper ==> 1.35mil 5. Main ==> 20mil 6. Inner Copper ==> 1.35mil 7. PP 7628 ==> 7mil 8. Bottom Copper ==> 1.35mil 9. Bottom Solder Mask ==> 0.5mil Total: about 40mil
PP7628 DK=4.2~4.7(4.7,<1GHz), use 4.3 for 2.4GHz. width=13mil, Z=49~50ohm, ceramics antenna Z=50ohm, perfect matched. So after this calculation, I changed board height from 0.8mm to 1mm and use line width 13mil for antenna.
Is the thickness of the board effect impedance as well? Don’t get me wrong, I am no expert either but I though it is the line width and space between line effect Z.
Ye, Z depends on distance of inner layer(GND) and top layer, line width, dielectric constant(this depends on signal frequency somehow). I am not very clear how to calculate it exactly but the software said so. 🙂
Oh!!, Forget the ground plane on the bottom side. Looking forward to see your new design.
When the new design is ready for sale? I am very interesting for your board.
Thank you for your attention 🙂 New version is v0.5, it will publish in middle of May. The board of old test version are all sold out.
